Consider EMDR Therapy to Treat Trauma
If you or a loved one has experienced a traumatic event, EMDR therapy can help you process the intrusive memories that are disturbing you.
Kristal Perry-Gutierrez, of Healing Pathways of Springfield, Inc, is an EMDRIA Certified Therapist who will work with you to reduce the effects of distressing memories and put you on a path to better mental health.
Research has shown that EMDR Therapy is an especially effective treatment method for veterans who have been in combat and are suffering from post traumatic
stress disorder.
How Does EMDR Work?
After experiencing a trauma, information surrounding the incident can become locked in your brain. These painful memories may cause intrusive thoughts, sounds, and images to occur which can make you feel like you are re-living the event.
EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy) works to unlock these memories by bringing adaptive information to where the trauma is stored so that you are able to lead a fuller life.
Compared to traditional treatment methods, EMDR is able to provide you with results much more quickly. Some clients report relief in as few as 2 or 3 sessions.
